Volcano Eruption Recently 2024. The eruption was the tenth to have occurred on the reykjanes peninsula since march 2021 and the seventh in 2024. A volcanic fissure on iceland’s reykjanes peninsula reawakened in late may 2024.
The volcano eruption, located in southwestern iceland, forced the evacuation of the nearby fishing town as well as guests at the nearby blue lagoon geothermal spa. Growth of the modern fuego volcano followed, continuing the southward migration of volcanism that began at the mostly andesitic acatenango.
